Wedding Insurance

Hello,
I've been advised to get wedding insurance for my wedding in Sept. Can anyone advise me on the following (please)
1) Where can I obtain this?
2) How much will it cost (roughly)?
3) What will it cover?
4) Has anyone ever used it?
5) Is it worth it?
I'll probally have a tonne of questions later on (doing the wedding on a budget) so any help/advice greatly appreciated.
Regards,
FatJock

Hi FatJock,
I looked into this when I got married last year and didn't end up taking it out but i did notice that there are a lot of companies that offer this and it is a good idea to get the policy coverage and sit down and compare them to be sure that the policy covers what you need it to. I saw policies starting from around £50 but really not sure what level of cover they would offer.
I know that Debenhams and M&S advertise wedding insurance, and when you start buying wedding magazines you wil be inundated with adverts for this sort of thing.
Most companies tend to offer a tiered approach, in other words, the higher premium you pay, the more the supposed benefits.
I thought about the insurance policies we already had, for example, household insurance that would cover dress, rings etc, and the protection that credit cards offer for purchases made, we definitely put the big purchases on our credit cards and then paid them off straight away so that we had this cover without added interest.
Hope some of this helps0 -
Hiya,
Depending on where you get married, it may be a requirement on the venue's behalf to have it, otherwise they'll include their own insurance policy - to cover things like public liability etc.
Our venue was great - they told us about this but said don't get ours, it's cheaper elsewhere.
We got ours for about £49, but as is the way, didn't need it.

I've found wedding insurance for £26 on http://www.eandl.co.uk/wedding-insurance and it covers everything we could need. Has anyone used this company?0

We took out that insurance for that price too I think... Had no problems... But not had to claim yet!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

mum brought me home a leaflet from Waitrose advertising their wedding insurance which is provided through greenbee.com. There are 12 tiers of cover! So sure to be something in there which covers your needs but not sure if it would be the cheapest.
We're going to get insurance for sure. Our wedding is going to cost close to the average for a UK wedding or so I read in a newspaper, so the cost of insurance is a bit of a drop in the ocean and provides us with a bit of extra peace of mind. The main thing it covers that is most important to me is the ability to cancel/rearrange with little loss if god forbid someone important became ill :-(. The other thing is the public liability insurance as our reception is in a very grand old private school ... probably some expensive furniture and paintings hanging around for our guests to damage ...
Oh - note the one thing no wedding insurance will pay out for is if bride or groom decide they do not want to get married after all!0 -
I went with https://www.covermywedding.co.uk - all the cover we needed for our wedding abroad PLUS they were the only company who'd also cover the reception when we got back (because there was more than 2-3 weeks between the two events other insurance companies I spoke to got really funny about it for some reason).
I got the 2 star cover for £35. Bargain.0
