Hi

just tried this and it's quite cool...

http://www.pandora.com/

Stick in a band/artist you like, and it creates a radio station of other bands that you may like too based on your original selection. Nifty.

Hey what a great idea. Many of the musician's/band's it's recommending I've never heard of so being able to listen to a track is a brilliant way of checking out if it's 'your thing'. I've noted down a couple already for further investigation.

    Nice post fzchicky.

    Cheers,

    Bubba.

Very interesting. What were you listening at the time?

I've just been listening to Mercury Rev, which it described as having mild rythmic syncopation. I don't know what rythmic syncopation is!

First, I love this website, I have been introduced to lots of tunes I have never heard of before that I really really like.

If you want to record your free 10 hrs of music (or any other radio show) go to https://www.mp3mymp3.com and download their recorder (conveniently called mp3mymp3) and the record to your hearts content.

You will need to change the recording time to be a bit longer, but in practise any time longer than an hour might make your pc fall over.
So I wait till a track comes on that i dont like, then stop the recored, save the recording as an mp3 (which can take about 5 mins if the track is longer than an hour) the restart to record the next tune.

You can be really anal and make a record of everything thats been played, making notes of breaks in the recordings. The edit each mp3 in a sound editing package to extract the tunes you like..........
(I have a lots of spare time, and cant stand paying for stuff)

This is the free music site - best juke box ever! Seems to have most things you are after. The music streams in whilst you are connected to the internet. Comes in at digital radio quality, that is, very acceptable DAB radio quality but not CD quality.
    http://id1g1t.com/

This is the sound recorder you may need, but is not necessary, to capture the streaming music from above. Definitely worth having. and free of course!

    http://www.roemersoftware.com/free-sound-recorder.html

This is the CD site with a small contribution to the Russian Mafia. Usually works out at less than £1/CD but gives CD music best quality for later burning to CD and has all the latest CDs you find in the High Street.

    https://www.allofmp3.com

    All these are are excellent.

Yahoo does a very similar thing to this pandora site, i stumbled upon it a few months ago and its completely free! its called Launchcast and you rate the songs they play you. you can enter the names of the artists you want to hear frequently on the radio - really worth checking out! if you're already registered with yahoo, go to their homepage and click on the music icon at the top. if you're not registered you'll need to sign up with yahoo (free, free email address too) to access the launchcast radio. enjoy!
