Meatballs in a slow cooker?

I have recently become a slow cooker convert but am still finding my feet with it so I was wondering if anyone knows if I can cook homemade meatballs in tomato sauce in a slow cooker? I know the sauce would work well but am concerned the meatballs might fall apart.

Am grateful for any advice.
thanks x

Take a look at meatballs and sauce. The post I've linked to has a link to a SC recipe.

I'll add this thread to the meatball one later to keep ideas together.

    Hi,

I'm sure I read a post about doing meatballs in the sc but now I can't find it so I need help please :o

After I've made the meatballs do I sit them on top of the sauce in the sc or cover them. If I don't brown them will they be that horrible greyish colour that mince goes?

Would it just be easier to do it the normal way?

I prefer it the normal way. You don't need them soft/splodgy which is what SC cooking usually does.
One day I might be more organised...........

Last time I did meatballs in the SC, I just put onions & carrots in the bottom, then the meatballs on top, then poured over the tomato sauce.
They came out fine.. nice & soft, but didn't fall apart.
