Has anyone bought a second hand wedding ring?
My engagement ring is a 1930s platinum and diamond band and I would really like a platinum wedding ring to match. New rings are out of my price range (I don't want to spend more than about £100) I've had a look on the internet but not really found anything.
Thanks

We just have for OH (male). He loved a particular ring that he saw. It just happened to be second hand (still had the finger attached, lol)
Seriously, it doesn't bother us in the slightest as it's the one he wanted. Mine was new but again I love it.
His was so cheap that we're having his suit tailor-made with the rest of the ring budget in a retro-style that he has wanted for years.
Find a ring t. hat you love and go for it:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I wouldn't mind second hand at all, just so happens our rings were really cheap from Warren James...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... My engagement ring is second hand... some people have superstitions and think it's bad luck but that wasn't important to us... moneysaving was!!
You pay between 1/4-1/3 of retail if you buy second hand... made sense to us!
Have you tried eBay, OP?Kavanne

My friends bought their engagement ring and their wedding rings secondhand. They went to a lovely place in Exeter and chose some really nice antique rings.
I think it is really nice to think of the love that went into the older style rings.0 -

The OH and I went out just before Christmas and (finally!) bought a wedding ring - OK, that was new ...
However, after hearing much about the price of gold, I poked around and found some old broken chains and bracelets and asked the OH, as he was going into our local jeweller, to take them in to see how much I might get. He said he had some rings of his Mother's and also some jewellery that belonged to his wife. She died in 2000 - she was also my best friend. While going through the rings and things that he keeps in some drawers behind a clock above the fireplace, he asked me if I wanted any of her rings - one of which is platinum; he also said that maybe he should have a wedding ring too and did I mind if he used his 'old' one, also stored in this keepsake clock.
I was, and am, touched and honoured that he offered and I do not mind at all that both rings will be 'secondhand'.
Just wish we had gotten around to actually getting married! Still waiting for that as we did not have time to get to a registry office to have the 'banns' read in time for a quickie wedding the week before Christmas. So now I have two lovely rings that I can't wear!!!
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue - the platinum ring is old, kinda borrowed and has blue stones! And the wedding ring is new.
Good luckOoh, I've gotta little star! What's that for then?!!0 -
