  • How much does cambridge diet cost at the moment? I have Bout 4 or 5 stone to lose and I have tried regular dieting but I just get disheartened or lose willpower. I feel that if I could see results quickly, that I would be able to find the willpower to keep going!

Hi, I've been doing optislim for the last month and lost 10lbs and am really happy with it. I'm quite strict with myself during the week and then have what I like at weekends for my one meal (currently having 2 shakes and 1 meal a day) so have had frankie and bennys, etc. I've found that I can;t eat as much as I use too (which is good) and don't feel hungry. THe first week was the hardest but now I'm use to it, it's fine. Lloyds Chemist sell it and it's currently on offer 99p per sachet. I've also downloaded some hypno slim apps from itunes which have been really good too and also My fitness Pal which helps me keep a log of what i'm eating and the calories. I listen to the hypnoslim every night. This together with a bit more exercise has really helped. Now that I have my shake I'm also not spending in the works canteen so saving some money too :-)
  • If you are worried about the cost of dieting. it may be worth a visit to your GP as a lot of areas have started doing Slimming World and gym referrals on the NHS.
  • Cambridge is around £42 a week, not cheap but it sure makes you committed not to waste the money by falling off plan.
You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same
  • Has anyone heard of or tried Diet Chef? My friend is on it, it's one of these ones where they deliver all your food to you (for a price!). To be honest, I wasn't sure what to think especially as my friend really doesn't need to lose a lot of weight but just wants the convenience of the prepared meals. Are these 'ready made' diets really good for you?

Have a look at this site before making up your mind: https://www.dukandiet.co.uk

This is all about the long-term, not buying artificial things in packets, but a structured plan to lose weight and then keep it off.

they were selling a shake diet pack in Superdrug today, think some of it was 3 for 2 think it might have been Celebrity Slim but not 100% sure

I have 2 friends who did the Cambridge diet for a few weeks to give them a weight loss boost and then joined WW, one has lost 3 stone and the other nearly 6 and both look great

With Cambridge, LL and LT, you go into ketosis which suppresses hunger and protects the lean tissue. It's a fat burning process.

im sorry but thats just :rotfl:

ketosis does not stop you burning lean tissue, low calorific intake causes you to burn lean tissue

VLCDs should be banned, there the latest "magic bullet" they teach you nothing about healthy eating or address the issues that made you gain weight but can put your health at serious risk

More over there completely unnecessary, if you eat properly you can loose weight without the need to shut down your metabolism or ever feel hungry

What really baffles me is if you have the willpower to starve yourself on one of these snake oil products whilst damaging yourself how can you not have the discipline just to eat healthy?

I agree with Eric, especially when he says "What really baffles me is if you have the willpower to starve yourself on one of these snake oil products whilst damaging yourself how can you not have the discipline just to eat healthy?"

It really is all about self-discipline. The vast majority of people who lose weight quickly will put it all back on, and maybe more. You hear this all the time.

Personally I would rather eat FOOD than mix up things in packets, and I would rather choose my own food rather than the 'meals on wheels' type of diet meals that are advertised.

  • Why not pop over to the SlimmingWorld thread - they will help you on there.

You have a choice of what to eat - no weighing, no measuring, no kidding is their motto. It does work, but as margaretclare says, you still need discipline to NOT attack the biscuit barrel etc.

The slower you lose it, the better you are for re-training your eating habits so hopefully will stay slimmer for longer - if not for life.

Good luck in your weight loss plan.
