Banker's draft

Thanks, do they charge for issuing corporate cheque, I read the limit is £10,000, more than that you will have to ask CS.
We didn't have to pay anything for this cheque - which was a bonus. We had A&L account, where we could get banker's draft, but we had to order that on telephone banking and it would be posted to us within X working days, which was not an option. Went to Nationwide and they did there and then without a fee!!! I think you should call them and discuss what you need - I found that they are very willing to help. (If the limit is £10k - what about 29 cheques :rotfl:)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Would a Nationwide Building Society Cheque or "Corporate Cheque" be of any use as an alternative? http://www.nationwide.co.uk/search/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=1221 It' surely an acceptable alternative?
I remember using one, from a different society, years ago to pay for a car.0 -
Things must have changed in the last two years. I stored the proceeds of my sale in a Halifax Instant Saver account for a short while. When I needed to pay my solicitor for my new purchase I went to my local branch and asked for a bankers draft and was told the normal counter cheque that they provide FREE OF CHARGE is a bankers draft. Sure enough it said bankers draft at the bottom and was treated as such by my solicitor. Perhaps it was because I was getting it from a savings account rather than a current account.
Halifax don't charge for a draft is being withdrawn from a savings account because you do not have cheque book facility, but they do from a bank account because there is cheque book facility available. The fee is £10 from a bank account, so the answer os to transfer funds over into the savings first.
But back to the OP - would CHAPS not be better anyhow0 -
Don't bother with any of the above, just print your own:

If you visit a solicitor with a suitcase full of cash be prepared for some very heavyweight visits.0

And you think that a transfer won't go unnoticed? try making a few 20K transfers and you will also be asked the odd question or two.0
