Cable & Wireless Sat Nav

This Cable & Wireless CWSN-1000 sat nav unit @ £229.99 (all inc) looks like a good and more affordable alternative to a Tomtom Go.

I posted asking advice about it a couple of weeks ago. It's now in stock and they're dispatching to me. I'll let you know how good it actually is.

It's very good, but has more simple controls than others. The touch screen seems not to need a stylus, and it's a good size and quality.
You can search for local facilities but you can't search along a route if you understand). You can't tell what percentage the battery is at but it does give you a warning when it's low.
I'll post a longer review on ciao in a couple of weeks.

    Thanks for that.

I went out and got a Garmin Streetpilot i3 at Argos last Thursday, which I got for £167 with some Nectar points off.

I have to say that it seems really good so far. However, if the C&W is better and seeing as Argos sell that too at the same price as Amazon - I might consider taking it back and doing a swap.

Hasn't the Garmin got a minute screen?

That was my main concern prior to buying it, but I have to say that it's not too small and gives you all the information you need.

There is something that is annoying me a bit with it...it seems a bit slow to get up and going a bit when you put it back on for a return journey. It doesn't start doing voice commands until a few miles down the road, even though it displays as being ready.
