help with fish

I bought some fresh fish bits a few weeks ago from our local market which went into the freezer. I have pulled them out today to make a pasta dish for me and my daughter and have found a little frozen worm in with the fish.

Is this still safe to eat or should I not risk it? I have never found a worm before in fish but im 8 months pregnant so need to be careful and also my 2 year old will be having some

It probably depends on what the worm is! For example, if it's just a worm of the type that was used when catching them and then got left in with the fish, I can't see why that would be a health problem. On the other hand, I can imagine that some other sorts of worm might be less attractive.
But you probably don't know what sort of worm it is - do you know what sort of fish it was, and how it was caught?

Is this what it looked like? My father used to bring fresh fish in off the docks all the time (he worked there) and this was very common. It's completely harmless, if that's what it is :)

Is it cod ;) Their feeding habits leave something to be desired, and the red worms are always present in their flesh. There'll be no health issues provided the fish is fully cooked.

    Hi Bexstars,

They may be harmless but I'm not sure that I could eat it. _pale_

You'd better steer well clear of cod, then ;)
