Money club?

Is anyone a member of the Money Club? Is it all a scam?
The website is www.moneyclub.co.uk and it all looks pretty legit. I clicked on something the other day and I've now just had a fairly lengthy talking to by some woman wanting me to fork out £89 (apparently refundable after 2 months if I change my mind). She was telling me how the club can save hundreds or even thousands a year on various things but I'm not sure I buy enough stuff to make it worth the initial outlay!
Anyone else experienced this?
P.s. I am in no way affiliated to this company and I am not trying to sell it to anyone, I just want to find out if anyone else knows anything about it!

This is very dodgy indeed. Pay a guy £1 to have access to a website where you can get great deals. Pay the pound do nothing and before you know they've taken £98 from your account, with no authorisation, invoice or warning on when payment would be taken. This means that you can forget to cancel this so called membership before the date and end up paying £99 for absolutely NOTHING.
But fear not, if you find that this has just happened to you, contact your bank immediately and under the direct debit gaurentee they can reclaim your money for you. Cancel the direct debit at your bank and email the money club cancelling your so called membership.
You should receive your money back within one day, job done.... hopefully0 -
I looked into this some time ago. I doubt it is an outright scam. It's just that as you noted, you have to spend quite a bit to save the cost of the sub. And this is an annual sub.
I think it is probable that many perople sign up and gain for the first year and then just keep paying even if savings in later years are reduced.
All the examples in their literature showed high end goods to get the savings they quoted. Not the items I would be buying. As I keep all my stuff until it falls to bits I deduced I wouldn't save enough to warrant joining. If it’s not important to you, don’t consume it0 -

No doubt most of these deals could be found with a bit of looking around on the internet and may even be bettered without much effort....and for free.
I would avoid schemes like this to be honest, I suspect the only people making any money are those selling the scheme to you.

I would like to find out from anyone who I complain to about the Money Club. I like many others joined on a 4 week trial. After a couple of days I decided it wasnt for me so rang to cancel this. I spoke to a man unfortunately didnt get his name who said that was find and he would cancel this for me. I thought no more of it until I checked my bank account and found out they had taken the £98 out. I rang and spoke to a lady who said if I text them cancelling this that would be fine. The next thing I know I receive a snotty letter explaining that as the trial was up I could not now cancel. I checked back and they had taken the money out before the 4 week triaL was up I then wrote to them and told them that if I did not receive a reply within a week I would take matters further. Surprise surprise they have not replied so I would now like advise as to what to do now?0
