Hi all I have asked alliance bank for help as I had lost my job and started a new one but at a lower wage I asked for some of the charges to be refunded and for the fees to be frozen ... I was sent a income and expediture form and returned it showing my outgoings with the fees exceeded my incomings... I was then told at work on Friday that my hours had been cut at work so I called alliance to tell them at 1st a girl laughed at me and told me the bank would do nothing and she terminated the call I called back and got the same girl again and again she terminated the call. I called a third time and got a nice girl who advised that my overdraft had been exceeded by £250 total £650 o/d wages are £600 and my cheque that i had paid in on the 1st July had not been processed until the 3rd and would not be cleared for 7 days therefore all my d/d will bounce and not be paid...She then told me to to worry and that in cases like these I would get a bank charge part or full refund and or an over draft increesed .. I yesterday spoke to the complaints dept who told me this was wrong and i should never had been told this arrrghghhhhh I am going around in circles no one wants to help me what do i do now ????
I have about £4000 debt and think i am sinking and the bank does not want to help
cheers Heidi

Hi Heidi,
I am not a professional and my advice is offered “as is” from experience.
If I were you I would open a new basic bank account with another bank and change your wages to be paid into that. The debt with the bank will go bad either way so its best not to let their charges eat at your wages just yet.
Keep the bank in the loop on this and TELL them what you are going to do, you are in control of your wages, not them.
Just a note, check if you are eligible for benefits.
Good luck,

PFN,
I totally agree.
OP make sure the new account you open does not have any ties to your creditors and then set up some sort of payment plan with your current bank to repay the overdraft.
ETA there are template letters on the nationaldebt line website to send to a creditor advising you are in financial difficulty and asking them to freeze all interest and charges of the account.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Alliance lecister are one of the most rudest , unhelpfull and uncaring banks
I have just spoken to the head customer relations team and he keeps promising to resolve matters for me and guess what nothing........ Also have been waiting for a call back for 9 days ... yes thats right 9 days .... is this bank run by muppets that can't deal with even the simplist of tasks ????? I have had some crappy service in my time this takes the buiscuit where do i go now anyone ????0 -
I would cancel the direct debits at the bank as they are going to bounce anyway (which will probably cost 30quid??).
Then speak to each of the companies and arrange payments out of your new bank, they should be fine with this, they dont care which bank they get paid from.
Good luck.0 -
