There are some great cheap ideas on this site for party bags.
Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!
  • For my daughter's 6th birthday party she chose to have an "arty crafty" party at home - several of her friends came and made fairy mobiles, magic wands etc - we mainly used bits and pieces that we had lying around (scraps of pretty wrapping paper, bits of old ribbon, straws (I did buy them new, you'll be pleased to hear!).
Then, they also decorated their own party bags (sturdy paper ones) and in addition to the piece of birthday cake, and some pretty biscuits we made, the only things that went in them were the items they'd crafted themselves! I was chuffed cos no plastic tat was purchased only to break straightaway. Enviro-friendly and cheap - hurrah!
(And my daughter and her friends loved it!):j

Flappin fish is where you make a fish shape about 10 inches long from paper and roll up newspaper or similar to "flap" the fish along to a line at the other end of the room. It sounds quite boring but believe me , when you have tow or three teams playing it....light the touch paper and stand back!! Great with adults plus booze too!

I've seen it played with a mouse design on the paper and called "Bat the Rat"
  • It's my sons birthday in a few weeks and he's desparate for a party but I'm totally skint. I sometimes take my kids bowling at my local bowling alley on a Sunday morning when it's only a pound per child for an hours bowling. The idea crossed my mind that rather than pay 9 pounds a child for bowling and a plate of sandwiches why not book them all in for an hours bowling at a pound each and then take them back to my house for food and games afterwards. The idea is that the parents drop them off to the bowling alley and then collect them from my house 3 hours later. I've had to rope in a few friends and family members to help transport them all back to my house after the bowling session but as they would normally help out anyway and their kids are coming they don't mind at all. If all goes to plan then I will have a party for 18 kids for a total cost of well under 50 pounds. Wish me luck!
  • "Good luck" sbeard1 - sounds like you might be worn out by then end but should save loads of money! Are you having to round up loads of car booster seats? (don't know how old your son is!) - whenever we have to organise transport, the major co-ordination issue is the booster seats!!
Hope you all have lots of fun!
