Life-coaching

I work full time and study counselling 1 day a week. At the end of training I am hoping to make some kind of 2nd income from counselling type work however I am aware of how difficult this is as most counsellors are volunteers.
I have just been looking into life-coaching as an alternative. There are no set standards on what training you need to become a life-coach or similar but obviously training is what I would want to do. However it is v.expensive¬ sure if it would be worth it as many people are sceptical about this sort of thing.
Does anyone have any advice?

I think you are looking at a market that will shrink as people tighten their belts.....

Yeah, I was thinking of that, but perhaps if I was able to operate as a life coach, there could be the opportunity to run group sessions as a more affordable option.0

I would suggest you check out not just the training but what accreditation each training organisation offers. Like counselling, there are many many bad coaches who didn't really have to do anything except pay their fees and sign up for membership.
Equally there are many excellent trainers who do a damn good job.
You need to read and assess and if I may suggest, decide on the basis which one has an approach that would persuade YOU to part with your money.
Good Luck.
Coaching is great and really satisfying.:A0 -
Accreditation is one of the important things I have considered but can't seem to find any sort of governing body for life-coaching (such as BACP for counsellors) so Im not sure who is reputable or not.
My local college does Edexel level 2 & 3 BTEC certs by distance learning but they are approx £1000 each (drastically reduced to people on benefits - so frustrating!)
Seems like such a huge expense. My NCFE level 3 counselling course cost £125 and I was unsure of whether to go ahead with that at first!0
