De-Solve it spray. Works every time even on dried in stains. It's sold in the laundry section in most supermarkets.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0

If you think its grease try rubbing in some neat washing up liquid and then wash again, hope you did not use a hot wash, if you did you could well have set the stain, in which case it will be a case of just washing until it maybe disappears.

What laundry powder/liquid did you use to wash the garment? If you haven't already tried Ariel Biological automatic powder, that is what I would try. This Ariel product is excellent at removing greasy/oily stains.
First I would try a hand wash (in a bucket or washing up bowl) with same Ariel powder in hand hot water. Gently rub the stained area as it is immersed in the solution.......the stain should disappear. Rinse with cold water and examine the area to see if the stain has been totally removed. If yes, peg it out. If no (stain faded but still slightly visible), put the garment in a machine wash with same Ariel powder.
I am not connected to any laundry care product manufacturer.;)
For anyone wondering why I keep recommending using such an expensive laundry product on a MoneySaving site, compare the cost of buying the best powder with having to replace your ruined clothes.
To save money myself, I use Surf for general washing.........and keep the Ariel for stained garments or very dirty loads.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
Nile, whilst on the subject of various washing powders and how well they work, can you tell me how Bold compares to others for performance please?
I ended up with two huge boxes of the lavender flavour (discounted or BOGOF or something) which obviously I need to use up before buying anything else, and on the whole I'm satisfied with it, but I feel DS's white school shirts could be whiter, even though I do a 50/50 Bold and washing soda for those
You know what boys are like, so it's the usual grimy collars, cuffs and numerous mud and grass stains I have to tackle "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Oh dear.........you're not going to like this.:o
Bold didn't perform well on either cleaning or softening. It did give a nice perfume to the clothes though.
I use Surf, Ariel Biological or Persil powder. I use Lenor in all washing loads except whites.
For your boys sports gear, I would suggest Ariel Biological automatic powder is the best product. It will remove the mud and grass stains. Save some money by using a cheaper (like Surf?) powder on your other washing loads.
I use to apply mud and grass stains to test cloths.........Ariel removed them easily.;) I also used to test collars/cuff stains by grabbing grimey samples from the necks of the male staff in the R&D building!
Please bear in mind that I am not currently doing this research/evaluation work.........I'm only giving my opinion from past experience........nor am I connected to any laundry product manufacturer.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. :rotfl: ... what is it with the male species and grimy necks! LOL!
DS wears a clean shirt every day, and yes he does shower almost every day, when I remind him... yet still has grimy marks on his collars
Anyway, so it looks like I need to get some Ariel then for his white shirts and footie kits and I'll just finish up the Bold on the coloured washes.
Funnily enough I did used to buy Surf tablets before MSE and after reading here I decided to go back to big box powder and ended up with Bold cos it smells nice as I don't use f/c anymore. You're right though, it doesn't really soften the clothes but the white vinegar helps with that
Thanks for the tips :T"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Won't use biological powder because of the eczema in the family!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Won't use biological powder because of the eczema in the family!
When it gets to about half-way through the year I give up caring so much and if he wants to play footie at lunch times and get his shirts smeared in grass/mud stains then he'll have to put up with the stains if they won't come out
But, we're only half way through the first term at the moment and I bought him new shirts to go back to school with this year so want to keep them clean as long as possible
These are still coming up clean when washed but some of his older ones are definitely looking a bit grey in comparison!
I like to make sure his footie kits are immaculate as they often spring impromptu photo shoots for the local paper without any notice!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
