ugliest pet competition!
THEY have faces only their mothers could love. Or so you might think.
The owners of the world's ugliest dogs got together for a showdown last month, at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Californa.
The winner was Gus the Chinese Crested Dog and, as our photographs show, it's easy to see why his owner Jeanenne Teed walked off with first prize. Not only is Gus three-legged, but he also has one eye and one of the most curious faces in the animal kingdom.
The Guardian has therefore launched its own search for the most ugly pet in Waltham Forest. And we're not just interested in dogs - we will welcome photographs of ANY animal, as long as it happens to be a beloved pet.
Over the next six weeks we will feature the creatures in our paper and set up an online gallery, so you can see for yourself who is in the running to be crowned Waltham Forest's most ugly pet.
The winner will be chosen by our panel of judges and they will receive a generous bag of goodies for their animal.
To enter, all you have to do is e-mail a picture of your pet to our chief photographer, Ken Mears, via kmears@london.newsquest.co.uk. Include your pet's name, your name, address and telephone number. The contest will end on Friday, August 22.
