Bailiffs Threatening me

I left a £30 parking ticket as we had more serious debt problems like not getting evicted, and then it went to court, etc. Now the bailiffs that were sent round rang me on my mobile and threatened to break into my house and said they were going to call a locksmith to get in and remove goods.

I'm already on medication for health problems due to stress and this is not helping as I thought bailiffs could not threaten things like this or actually do them. I'm a prisoner in my own home, and I'm terrified that when I pick the kids up from school my house will have been broken into.

Can someone please show me what my rights are and tell me if they can actually do this?

Thank you in advance.
Sandra.

No they cannot do that. Ring the CAB for advice or the police

Suggest you try and pay it thought, every time they come round £100 goes on to the bill - the problem wont go away
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Am sure they can't do this . Grr. Try not to worry and I am sure someone who knows exactly what they can and can't do will be along shortly. Oh - and keep the windows closed. Got a feeling if you leave a window open they can go in? and don't answer the door to them as well. Call the police if they are refusing to leave and threatening you.

When the company first rang me, I offered them £5 a week as thats all I could afford, but they refused, they still are refusing.

Thank you for your quick response :)

Unless they have already gained peaceful entry into your house, then they CANNOT break in.

The bailiff is lying to try and scare you.

Under no circumstances let them in or leave the house unlocked. Once they have been allowed in at your invitation or without the use of force they can subsequently force entry.

    Edit: just pipped by fermi.
