Wanting to go off grid....

Well as much as i can in a rented 2 bed town house :rotfl:

Anyone in the same position (its just until i find my rustic delapidated cottage )

I want to avoid paying for my utilities or drastically reducing the costs even further (we cannot have a woodburner yet as we rent and my landlord paid thousands to get GCH installed) and also many other things such as cleaning products, convenience items and 'stuff' which seem to engulf our budget.

We did a no spend challenge a while back but i think the DFW board may have been the wrong place as its more of a eco mission than a DFW now.

Any quirky plans or ideas, any tips, notes of inspiration out there.

Whas your ECO thing?

Thanks
Lauren

The moneysaving old style board may be a good place to start. It's full of ways to savemoney by not buying cleaning stuff and just using what you have in your cupboard.

Basically, you us vinegar for everything, cleaning windows, washing your hair, descaling the loo/kettle, softening your clothes and anything else you want to do.

It's full of tips that are money saving, but also green too. Like making your own soap powder. I made a load 2 years ago and I'm just now beginning to think I'll have to make some more in the next couple of months.

I also made my own liquid soap which I have used everyday for a couple of years.

Not to mention many tips on how to make your food go further.
