Hi,
My partner has been given money for his birthday and wants to buy a PS3, now there are several options with deals and packages etc but looking at Ebay there are 80gb PS3 you can buy. Are these worth it?
We know all the games are region free but OH seems to think that as the 80gb are American you'd need an American address and credit card to use the online playing/demo downloads, is this true? Not too bothered about the blueray DVDs' as it's unlikely we'd buy them. Any advice would be welcome, along with tips and best price people have seen. He's not too bothered about it being second hand but it would be great to get a good deal.
Thanks everyone!!

80gb? erm over here you can now only get 40gb brand new ... they discontinued the 60gb.
If you are not bothered about it being second hand then go into game or gamestation and looked at their pre owned section, then you still get some kind of guarentee, however i would not recommend buying something worth so much through ebay!!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I agree with RustyFlange (:rotfl: love the name :rotfl: ) I would buy it from a shop or reputable online dealer - that way if anything goes wrong with it you have a receipt and a guarantee...
Check out the discounts and vouchers threads to see if you can get any discount codes for the big stores and/or buy it through a cashback site like quidco or topcashback. Our dream has come true...

we bought a 60gb on GumTree. It's British, and DH loves it to bits. He has signed up to foreign PS3 sites (no credit card required) on it and gets so many free demo's now he (thankfully) hasn't bought a game in ages :-) Id say thats one of the things you need to think about - the cost of the games!!skint but in luv :kisses2:0

Thanks to everyone who replied, will have a look around but I'm wishing he would just buy one and get it over and done with, we had a baby eight weeks ago and he's harped on about a PS3 for ages!!!! You can get 80gb from here:
