Credit Account with no record on Credit File ?

Guys,
Im not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here goes.
I am repaying £45.00 per month to Halifax Cetelem for some Alloy wheels that i bought 8 years ago for the sum of £500.00
I couldn't keep up payments and entered into DMP for all my other debts , but for some reason i totally forgot about the one for Cetelem.
Bascially 5 years later i got statement saying i now owed £2900! so i rang them up demanded a statement on how it got to this stage. They sent me a statement which really didn;t make any sense! any way, I paid a lump sum of £450 to the account and agreed to pay £45 per month until cleared, not 24 months on I have repaid them a total of £1530.
There is no record of this account on my credit file!.. what would you do? stop paying? as i now beleive I have paid my debt to society!
Any Suggestions will be greatly received.

Can I just get this clear, you have paid over £1500 back for some wheels that cost £500.
I would give them a call and suggest they are now taking the p*ss, although this does depend on the credit agreement you signed up to originally. What was the APR you agreed to?

Yep, that's about right!
I dont have the original credit agreement and or APR, the balance im paying back consists mostly of charges and interest! but the original credit agreement from memory was something like 45 over 12 months...
im so tempted to cancel the direct debit, but i don't want a fresh ccj or anything! but then again there's no trace of the credit account on record so im not sure what they could do, worth taking it to court do you think?0 -

Ask them for a copy of the agreement. They need to keep a copy as well to prove that you owe them the debt.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
