  • Credit checks are only a bad thing in that it will show in your credit reference file how many checks have been made on you and some companies will get suspicious if they check your file and see a lot of checks have been made in a relatively short space of time.

The only way I found out is because I am in the process of trying to build up my credit rating and having run a credit check they denied my "free order" DESPITE SAYING I DIDN'T WANT AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM WHEN I PLACED IT.

    Got to love some companies...

On a separate unrelated gripe, if you send an item from Ebay and only get proof of postage then the buyer claims it never arrived, PayPal will automatically give them a refund...guess why I don't use PayPal any longer...

  • Just ordered 2 sets boxes, the binoculars, and an iron. Plus free parka & free post/packing = £11.96. We'll see what turns up .....

Ordered but didnt receive a confirmation email
any one else had no confirmation?
  • As I got the heater FOC I thought I might treat the wife to a new iron, as daughter going to uni next year I ordered one for her as well. I know its limited to 1 per household but you've got to try it on sometimes haven't you?
I have just queried my account balance on my FOC heater and its given me a balance of £12.44. sent an email asking why and they tell me that this offer was for existing customers and should have been for orders over £15. I'm taking it further but not sure where i stand. they say they will arrange collection if I want - a bit silly on a £10 item - can I charge storage I wonder? any body else had the same experience or give me any advice?
    many thanks

Just had a comfiirmation of order being sent out(my 4th email from them letting me know how my order is going) and charged, although they did charge me postage(i had free postage),but i emailed them and they emailed backwithin minutes, saying an error on their part and will now remove charge, better than i thought, after all the probs other people seem to have had from them,so will let you know when and if delivered.

So now they have taken £3.45 for p&p I assume.

I queried this and got the following very swift reply

    Dear
    Thank you for your email.
Every order you place has a standard charge for post and packaging. The charge is for each order placed, ordering several items at once saves you money. We confirm that we have removed this charge and the adjustment made will show on your next statement.
    Kind regards

I have again queried this as I didn't open an account, asking them to refund my card. If this is a subtle way to start a long term relationship it ain't going to work.

    Update

After the first query I got another e-mail which reiterated the adjustment showing on my next statement. Sent them a further e-mail suggesting that they hadn't read my e-mail properly, again asking them to credit my card and advising them that I was reporting the progress of my correspondence with them on this website. A few minutes, literally, later received the following from them. Looks like success. Will update when they actually refund my card.

    Dear
Thank you for your email. We can confirm we have arrange for your card to be refund with the postage charge. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
    Kind regards

Exactly why i didnt bother ordering mikemoate. After the heater fiasco i realized this is one company thats got no idea of customer service. until i get my cahoot web card ( which only allows companys to charge what u requested )i wont be touching them with a barge pole.

Recieved my goods today. Absoloute TAT!
If it wasn't for the below, I would send them back. I'd be embarressed to sell them on ebay! I'd probably get bad feedback. Maybe I'll advertise them as TAT? or I might take them to the next boot sale.

I couldn't find where to put the free delivery / parker coat CODE and ended up sending my order through without it.

I phoned them up and asked them to apply the code to my order....

Me: "Can I add a promotional code to my order please. I couldn't find where to put it on the website."

Daxon: "Yes thats fine, so thats free delivery, free parker coat and £10 off. "

Me: "Yes, thats the one. Thank you. Click"

    Me: Wooo Hooo!
