Smash

I know it's ben mentioned on here before - the seventies mash in a tin - anyone know of a current one which tastes like the old style one? The new 'improved' powder version is disgusting.

The old one was a good 'comfort' style food when I felt ill and I really fancied it the other day, hormones have a lot to answer for! I can't get proper mash to taste the same (which probably says a lot about the additives etc added to the smash) but if anyone knows of a similar tasting product that would be great (or how to make mash out of real potatoes taste like OLD smash - not the new stuff which had me gagging

  • Costco's one is fantastic - its called Paradise Valley natural mash - think you get 12 sachets in a box (shared a box with a relative) each sachet contains 4 servings and it by far the best I have tried.

It's a bit of a git that their 'improved' version has dried milk added as a cheap bulking agent which excludes a lot of dairy-intolerant people from eating it. Yeah, it tastes somewhat removed from actual potatoes, but sometimes you need a bowl of rehydrated cack amongst all the hoo-hah about homecooked healthy food.

You can take everything, but I'm going down with my asda-own-brand beanfest!

I wonder if that is it Smashing, I've never been tested for dairy-intolerance but I avoid it at all costs as it really turns my stomach
