endowment help

Please could someone help, my husband had an endowment policy 10 years ago with an ex girlfriend who he no longer knows where she lives the company have told him he cannot cash it in without her signature, I was wondering if any one knows a way round this, she only lived with him for 3 months after taking the endowment. Any advice would be gratefully received

As far as I'm aware, there is no way around it - his ex-gf still legally has joint ownership of the policy. Therefore her signature will be required in order to cash it in. Jointly held policies can be Absolutely Assigned to one party or another in split ups and divorces. That is normally what happens. However, it seems a bit late now to be sorting this out!
  • The reason he decided to look in to it is because he is no longer paying into it because he went into rented accomodation, so the policy is just doing nothing now
