When house prices get into trouble they tend to take four years or so to start recovering slightly.
Unlike the stock market which can crash quickly, the housing market is like a slow moving oil tanker which takes a long time to change course.
Why get on when it's obvious which way it is heading? [Onto the rocks.]0 -
Hello
In our area most new builds have come to a halt. Some developers are advertising that for their new houses you will not need a deposit, white goods, carpets are included. They will pay legal fees, stamp duty and I believe registry fees. They are also offering £500 per month towards your mortgage for 2 years.

If you can still choose carpets, they must still think you are a soft touch. Squeeze them until they take the carpets out, squeeze a bit more, then insist they put the carpets backYe thats 70k for 100%. As it's not finished yet I asked and she did actually say I could choose carpets e.t.c. I'll go and see the estate agent and see what they say. I do think now though from what peeps on this site and other sites say, that i'll wait till probably early next year before commiting but it depends how much juice I can squeeze from their nuts
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -
Well my mate has just bought one and I thought i'd have a look as i'm paying £380 per week atm renting and thought If I could get something similar buying then why not. So I had a look around the new developments being built and just had a quick chat with the sales person.
Cheers for the helpful posts everyone, I knew the housing market was bad just didn't realise how bad. I'll have a word with them tomorrow but it does look like i'll continue to rent whilst saving for an even bigger deposit.0 -
Hmm is it just me that thinks this company may be on the brink of bankruptcy ?
Whatever you do dont pay a deposit until the house is finished because lots of builders are shutting sites down with half finished properties and teh last thing you wnat is to be tied in and have the builder point out the clauses about being able to stop building due to outside influences etc0
