Don't have any vouchers, but Discovery Museum is good and it's FREE to get in. Suits a wide age range.

I live in Darlington, about 30 mins from Newcastle, and know the city very well.

I can guarantee you will have a great time in the' Toon '........

Whilst there may not be many vouchers, one of my favourite pubs is the Beehive, in the Bigg Market, last time I was in, a pint of John Smith Smooth was only £1.35 a pint, they do great toasties for £1, too!

This is what I call a proper pub, with real genuine people, enjoying the football etc.

Just across the road and down the bank is the Blackie Boy, another excellent pub.

Although I have'nt been in myself, the Strawberry, right opposite the football ground is highly recommended for good cheap food, and Shearers Bar, across the road as part of the ground is quite new.

Lots of special offers lunchtimes in the Italian restaurants around that area.

If you need info on hotels etc., please post.

One thing is certain, if you talk to the locals, you will love the sense of humour and the banter! (of course, you might not be able to understand them!)

    Oh,dear, Old System,

And I thought I was feeling old!

I have visited every town and city within 200 miles of Newcastle,(and many more) including Scotland, and no-one betters the Geordies, having said that, only 35 miles away, on Teessside, the biggest dump in the UK, they don't call it Teesside any more of course, it is now 'Tees Valley', I wonder who they think they are kidding?

  • Tom you haven't said how old you are or if you are coming up to the "Toon" with kids, that would make quite a difference to the places that you would want to visit.

    Hi Tom
I'm a geordie through and through and can be certain that you'll have a fantastic time whilst visiting Newcastle. Millions of great pubs, clubs and shops.
Head for Eldon square or some of the indoor markets and you're sure to bag a bargain!
Have fun. I'm sure you'll find us Geordies VERY welcoming.
