Tesco diddled me out of 500 Points

Evenin' all, not sure if I should have posted this in the Tesco discuusion thread or not, but here goes.
Did a £50 shop which was mainly baby milk & a lot of cat litter, used XXGFRY for the extra 500 points. My partner took delivery yesterday & one of the big cat litters was subbed for a smaller which dropped the order below £50, so no 500 points  .
Phone CS tonight who say they can't do anything, but I can use the code again. I point out that I have bought several weeks supply of baby milk & cat litter to get the 500 points, "sorry, we can't do anything" she says.
I could return it to the shop for a refund, but why should I? I won't get the £3.99 delivery back & a baby milk has now been opened.
What do you fellow MSEers think I should do now, will I get the 500 points back or some money back for my troubles?

Call them back and see if you get a different response from a different person, its worth a try.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

it was probably because you bought baby milk, infant milk doesn't count towards total spend so the points were probably not added when you checked out because that is where they are awarded not later if your order goes down with a substitution. Boots and most other places are the same about infant milk!0

Och, the wee lassie I got this time said I would get them as I intended to spend over £50. I pointed out that the paperwork said otherwise, wee lassie advised checking my points to see if they come through & to call back if not.
We'll see....

Och aye, I think you're right, 3 Cow & Gates at £6 a piece, total points on bill 33. I now remember seeing the baby milk thing elsewhere in not so small print. Better head back with what I can to the store

Why on earth does baby milk not count towards total spend? Is it not a product like any other?0

It is illegal to promote first stage baby milk, because breast is best, in simple terms. I think follow-on milk can be included in promotions though.

It's milk up to 6 months that doesn't count, and it's so that mothers are less encouraged to give up on breastfeeding - as if 1% return makes the difference..... Milk over 6 months does count. There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
