9ct or 18ct Wedding band?

Hi all, I'm getting married in september but am unsure about what type of ring to get. Not sure if to get a 9ct or 18ct band, I'm looking for a simple band design I think.

Anyone have any general advice about which carat etc?

Other option is, we're going to Turkey for honeymoon so had considered getting my ring out there but less sure of this.

Thanks in advance.

If it's plain you won't need to worry about carats as that applies to gem stones.

Other countries have different rules on gold make up so you might have to do a bit of research before you went.

The higher carat of gold the higher the price. How about something a bit different like palladium or titanium?

Have a look on here they have loads of choice so should help you decide what you do or don't like. We got our rings from here and their customer service is top class.

if you have an engagment ring then go for the same ct of gold otherwise the harder ring (less gold) will gradualy damage the softer one.

If you plan to buy a ring in turkey you really need to find out all about what sort of quality in gold you would be getting compared to here.

My rings are 18 carat gold and they have stood up very well to the wear and tear of the last ten years. I have another 9ct ring that I wear on my right hand and that has gone really thin over a similar period of time.

Personally I would only buy jewellery from one place, a small local jeweller where we get value for money and something a little different from the mass produced stuff you get in the likes of H Samuels and the rest.

Thanks all :) Having looked I'm now pro titanium or palladium. How durable is palladium? And does the titanium polished rings look like platinum/white gold etc?

Our polished titanium rings look almost identical to white gold or platinum but its hard to tell from the picture on the website. Ours have diamonds in as well and weren't really very MSE but figured we would be wearing them for a long time.

Thanks, I must say the pictures dont do them justice. I'm slightly more
reassured though if the polished versions are as good as platinum etc. Some of them of which I like are really cheap, does this reflect anything? It seems strange getting a wedding ring for £30 even though I am a bloke. I like the plan kinda polished ones.

    Thanks again :)

No they don't do them justice saying that though ours were around £300 each so definitely not MSE.

we're having 19ct gold but that's because OH's parents bought them in Italy. They are lovely and simple but very heavy, shouldn't wear out in a life time. I also have two of my grandmothers rings, they are 22ct 'old' gold so better quality and softer, but lovely. Wish they would fit on my fingers now though
