I need some kind soul to demystify the main technical differences between these 32" Sony models available at Argos:

Not much difference really, as they are all pretty crap, offering only the lowest so called HD resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
1080p is the minimum spec that I would buy! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Have a look at comparing them.
There is a difference in the sound (Nicam to Dolby) and in the contrast ratio. Also, difference in PiP (Picture in Picture).
Also, ignore the comment of the 1080p as no-one is broadcasting in this yet. The only benefit would be using a Blu-Ray DVD player or connecting a computer to it. I bought a 1080p display as I want to connect my computer to it but for general TV viewing, I can't see any difference between a 1080p and a 768p TV.0 -
Sony have a comparison tool on their UK WEBSITE
They also have a handy guide to HD TV as some people seem a little confused hope this helps.0 -
The Argos comparison page doesn't seem to tell the whole story, as the Sony website has the KDL-32S3000 TV with 3 HDMI sockets.
Might be easier to go to the Sony website where you can get the full specs of each TV and then decide which of the little added extras you think you'll need/want.Dave. :wave:0 -
I've got the KDL32S3000 -the main difference is the S3000 has extra connections at the back and a slightly better contrast ratio (blacker blacks)
Don't buy one from Argos as it'll be £150-200 over priced, I got mine from Amazon where it's currently £429
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL32S3000-Widescreen-Bravia-Freeview/dp/B000OQBUC2/
Also as mentioned ignore the 1080p comment, it's overkill on a 32in, tv companies in the UK will not broadcast at that resolution during the lifetime of current tv's on sale - and only blueray media supports this resolution0 -
Plus you'd have to sit no more than 3ft from the screen to actually be able to notice any difference0
-
I agree, but notice how the Sony site turns that on its head
"The finer detail means you can sit closer to a larger TV screen without seeing the individual pixels"0 -
Yes I agree with the previous posters about the 32S3000 as I have one of these. It's a very good TV and it does have 3 x HDMI sockets. And it cost me well under £500 from an internet shop.0

Thanks to all for these comments and the above Amazon price for the S3000 is already a handy margin lower than Argos.
Can anyone actually find it for £400, as mentioned by someone above?0
