Hello,
the OH is working in Cavan 4 days a week at the mo. He is on orange, i'm o2 and house is BT. What the cheapest way to text/phone? The house he is in has no landline or internet. Nearest phone box for him is a bit of a walk away.
If I got a ROI sim can I use it in the north? I'm Thinkin Carrick is too north!
Thanks.

BT have a 'free evening and weekend calls' package which is all Ireland for £10.50 a month. I've saved money on this during the last quarter as I have lots of family and friends in the Republic. Problem is holding off til after 6!0

I thought of that to the phone box. But what about mobiles?0

If you get an ROI one, get O2 Ireland - https://www.o2.ie
They have free roaming in the North if you select O2 UK, and you can top it up with an O2 UK printout from any garage too which is handy -- eg: if you top up with £10 you get the said amount in Euro added on.
Also handy, is with o2.ie you can log in and send 250 free web texts a month to anywhere in the world. They show up as completely normal texts at the receivers end, not one of those botched up texts with ads or anything - so that's a big plus.
I believe o2 Ireland now have a contract which you can opt out of for nothing at any time now "Clear" or something. But their Pay as you Go ("Speakeasy") is good too, giving you lots of free credit when you top up.

If he gets a local ROI o2 Sim. You can text it for 1p a text or talk for 11p a minute using your BT landline (no restriction on time of day)
Register here at www.18185.co.uk to avail
its free to register. Give your credit card details and the payment is taken from it. When registered predial 18185 before each call if you want to use the service0 -
Thanks for the ideas. Plan now is to get 2 free O2 ire sims delived to OH work house and use them!0
