Experian account deletion

I received an alert from Experian today saying that an account has been deleted from my credit report. I checked my report online and indeed, my two credit cards (Natwest and Mint) have completely disappeared from their records. The only thing left is a Nationwide bank account that I set up about 6 months ago. I've only been in the UK for 2 years and 4 months, so it can't be the 6-year rule. I did query a late payment on one of my credit cards and that notice also disappeared, so it could be that this is what happened? I also payed off one of the credit cards two days ago (a very good feeling!!), but I haven't closed it.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's not bad for me in a way, because I had a few late payments on one of my credit cards last year and I'm not planning to apply for credit any time soon, but I think it's curious to say the least. I'll also order my Equifax (and the other one) report and see what's happening on that front.

When you challenge the data held against you Experian contact the lender and ask them to confirm the validity of the information. If they do not respond within a certain time(28 days i think) then the account is removed from your file.
Should the lender get in touch in the future to answer their querey the account will reappear.0 -

Just as an interesting point both Equifax and Experian only remove the data after 28 days if no response is received, however call Credit "Suppress" the information as soon as you question it ( i.e while they are investigating it is no longer visible by any searches)
im not sure how wise this is from the creditors angle as you could potentially question 3/4 items have them all suppressed and make it look like you have clean file !!
( not that any lender uses call credit exclusively and they would inevitably check with the other two agency’s) It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
Hello mate was asked a question the other day and didn't know the answer. You seem pretty swept up on this sort of thing thought you might know
It was
"If an active account is removed from a file because the lender has failed to respond to a NoD what will happen to that entry when the lender attempts to update the payment infomation the following month? Will it re-appear with the errors there or will it remain omitted?"

Theoretically it should still remain "suppressed" even though there have been material changes to it.garyclay wrote:Hello mate was asked a question the other day and didn't know the answer. You seem pretty swept up on this sort of thing thought you might know

As far as Experian and Equifax go there are three types of data status
LIVE - appears in all searches by members of shared data ( each agency has its own special name for the list they keep of credit account conduct )
SUPPRESED - Is visible to the agency during a period of dispute ( i.e after the 28 days has elapsed it is suppressed from the file, but can be reinstated upon the lenders direction if they confirm the data )
DELETED - gone for ever not visible to searches ( but interesting can be viewed at agency level on a "history" although they are not allowed to divulge or "publish" the data in any way shape or form, as it is kept for "audit trail purposes only" !!!! It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for that. How did you become so knowledgeable about these agencies and how do I learn more?0
