Please help ladies - your views on engagement rings
Can you please answer a few questions about what would be your ideal engagement ring. I'm conducting some market research for work, because lets face, it my male, middle-aged boss is a bit behind the times when it comes to what us girlies like.
1) what shape stone would you prefer?
(round, oval, square, pear, marquise, rectangular, other)
2) what metal would you prefer this ring to be in?
(white gold, yellow gold, platinum, palladium)
3) being realsistic and with a possible budget what size stone would you like?
(under 0.25ct, 0.25-0.50ct, 0.50ct-0.75ct, 0.75ct-1.00ct, over 1ct)
4) how many gemstones would you prefer?
(solitaire, 2-stone, 3-stone, cluster)
5) what is your age ranger
(under 25, 25-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-55, over 55)
6) is it important to you how well the engagement ring sits against a wedding ring?
(wedding ring fit, standard fit)
Thanks to all who answer.

I might have to send my OH a link to this thread!
Personally...
1) Round or square
2) White gold ( I don't have any gold jewellery, mainly wear silver)
3) probably 0.25 - 0.50ct - I'm not really one for anything that looks flashy - all my jewellery is quite understated, so whilst I love the though of a huge rock, it just wouldn't look right on me I don't think.
4) Solitaire
5) 25-30

Well according to the missis:
1) what shape stone would you prefer?
(round, oval, square, pear, marquise, rectangular, other)
2) what metal would you prefer this ring to be in?
(white gold, yellow gold, platinum, palladium) (She also said Gold was only to be worn by those with a dark skin colour)
3) being realsistic and with a possible budget what size stone would you like?
(under 0.25ct, 0.25-0.50ct, 0.50ct-0.75ct, 0.75ct-1.00ct, over 1ct)
4) how many gemstones would you prefer?
(solitaire, 2-stone, 3-stone, cluster)
5) what is your age ranger
(under 25, 25-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-55, over 55)
6) is it important to you how well the engagement ring sits against a wedding ring?
(wedding ring fit, standard fit)0 -
1. I like square, but my own engagement ring is round with a mounting in each corner so it appears square
2. My engagement ring is white gold but I don't find it very hard wearing. My wedding ring is Palladium and that is great becuase I can wear it all the time without damaging it
3. Would prefer a small, high carat stone to a big but lower carat one
4. Definitely solitiare
5. 25-30
6. I only wear my engagement ring on special occasions as it is quite raised and as a sports coach I can't have that on. It does fit well with my wedding ring and I like thatSelf employed and loving it

Saying that, my actual engagement ring is a million miles away from that. I have a white gold and diamond eternity style ring with 10 stones weighing half a carat. Partly because of cost and partly because I wear nitrile gloves all day in work and solitaire rings break them easily so I had to have something flat0 -

These are the details of my ring... OH chose it and I love it! (A bigger diamond would of been nice but it's still not too shabby a size)

Saying that I have an unusual hexagon shaped ring with triangular diamonds and a small diamond sitting on top so it looks a bit like a flower with marquise sapphires each side as sort of leaves. I haven't seen anything similar to it in this country.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

I'd prefer an emerald to a diamond, and if possible an antique ring. It's customary here for people to switch their engagement rings to the other hand when they marry, and I quite like that idea, although wearing both together would work too.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
