MOst cost effective way to send monthly payments to Tenerife bank?

We have a mortgage on our apartment in Spain and have to pay each month to exchange to euros then to transfer the funds to the Spanish bank where the mortgage is held. Does anyone have a ny experience or tips on how to save on this transaction? Unfortunately we can't afford to make fewer transactions as we don't have enough cash to make larger payments - they are around £500 per month depending on the exchange rate.
