Hi,
I have bieing looking around for a sat nav / GPS recently and decided the best way to do it would be to use my phone. I found this GPS reciever for 39.99 here http://theskippinghippo.co.uk/product_keyring-bluetooth-gps-reciever_153090.html
Its priced at £50+ everywhere else, so to find it a tenner / 20% cheaper is a bargain!

Grab it while you can!

Anyone know of any cheap sat nav software to go with this by the way?0
-
But is it any good. I use a Navman B10 reciever which only cost £20, has the recommended sirfstarIII chipset which seems to work better than others, and is probably not much bigger.0
-
Well i was very concerned over how it would be able to get a lock on to satellites if its in my bag etc, but after reading some reviews people were saying this little unit keeps locked on where a lot of other GPS devices (including some sirf star 3 chipsets) would loose the satellite lock. It also has 51 channels which helps massively.
That was the deciding point for me to buy!0 -
Thay all say they will keep a lock, but do they all?
I heard sirfstarIII was the best, but I haven't heard of this one... Is it better?0 -
i bought a USB (sirfstarIII chipset) receiver for around 90 quid last year! It's amazing to see how cheap these devices have become, thinking of getting a bluetooth for my PDA!0

Mine arrived this morning, had a quick play with it with my sony ericsson k800i and it works beautifully with the tomtom software!0
-
I was under the impression that tomtom did'nt work on the k800i as you need a symbian or windows based OS on the phone for tomtom to function, so how the heck did you get it working?
all the best
the bearLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Anyone know if this works with Google Maps for Windows Mobile?0

Bargain? it's an astronomical price - £44.50 delivered!
No info from the dealer either - does it mean having even more chargers lying around- what charger do you get, car. home, usb?
I have one using the same chipset from an ebay retailer that was about 32 quid many months ago, and yes, the chipset is spot on, and it gets a lock ANYWHERE, inside the house etc.
That price was months ago, now you are spoiled for choice of loads of models at any number of retailers (not just eBay) for less than 30 quid, this one is very much a premium price, presumably based on the size, although I wouldn't want to be lugging it everywhere, and having it bang around when the keys are in the ignition. Mine stays in the car anyway, out of the way & the PDA comes with me.0 -
how long does the battery last on these ? is the battery replacable ?0
