You can get a FREE Disney Princess story book and pink feather boa Here.

To get both items, Grolier will also send you a 'trial' book from there book club. Simply return this (about 50p in stamps) and write to them to let them know you wish to cancel your membership. Hey presto, for about 70p in stamps, you have a lovely Disney Princess books and a Pink feather boa, perfect for any little girls Christmas stocking.

I've taken up this offer a couple of times with different titles and have never had any problems. Just simply remember to return your trial book and remember to writ a cancellation letter ASAP after you have revved the trail book and your Freebies.

  • Don't do it .This company is a nightmare to cancel, they keep sending books after you cancel, give no means of contacting them other than by letter, which they simply ignore.

I took up a similar offer last year...5 free books and a mickey mouse holder for them I think it was...I cancelled immediately and got a proof of posting for the unwanted books...never heard anything from Grolier again and got to keep my free books and holder with no probs. Maybe I was just lucky?

I have tried to join again for similar freebies but they havent sent me any more so maybe it's a once per address offer.

I had never heard of Grolier until I had my daughter 6 1/2 years ago, then all of a sudden, I started getting letters threatening to take her to court (she was about 6 weeks old when it started), because apparently she had ordered books from them and not paid. I wrote to them explaining that as she was so young this was impossible (she had apparently had the books for several months??) and they rang me and told me I was lying. In the end I went to citizens advice and they wrote a couple of letters for me (the 1st one didn't work). I was a single parent back then, and had post natal depression, and this just made it 10 times worse.
I haven't heard from them since then, and don't want to.
  • I have had several dealings with grolier, complete nightmare every time. Offer very tempting but ends up costing a fortune in letters and phone calls to get books cancelled. Whats worse is I live in Norwich where the books come from. I have even taken the books back to them an posted them through their door for them to say they never recieved them :(. Steer well clear of them. Also had many threatening letters of court in past 8 years because of their mistakes.

oh my word! Sounds like I had a lucky escape then!
I remember a feature on 'That's Life' years ago (showing my age now!) on similar book clubs..They said that if you have cancelled and they keep sending books to you then you have every right to keep them and tell the company that if they dont collect them within a certain time frame you will keep them. |
It's really not worth the hassle though is it - especially as these things are targetted at mums n dads with small children who have enough stress on life already!!
  • Avoid at all costs! I signed up several years ago and ended up having about 7 'trials' with them. One I never even received but they were happy to demand payment.

Not worth the 'free' book as I could have bought it just with the money spent on calling them.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Have to agree with previous posts - I had a nightmare trying to cancel Grolier books a few years ago and it all got rather horrible.

    Avoid them!!

feather boas are not good for kids

any sort of allergies can be caused by these

and considering they drop usually live birds into boiling hot water to help get the feathers off much quicker is a bit sick - to put it politely

your kids would scream if they knew
