Mortgages after bankruptcy - does bankruptcy not matter 3 years after discharge?

Interesting piece of advice - I recently contacted an IFA who deal with my pension, to ask about where I would stand regarding a mortgage in the current credit crunch climate with my bankruptcy still on file (discharge early 05). I was told that, as the discharge is over 3 years old, it would have no impact on the likely interest rate I would pay.
Has anyone had any experience with this, as to me that sounds pretty unlikely. They did say I'd need to get together a deposit (like anyone else does at the moment), but otherwise it would be as normal.
