My challenge - living on virtually nothing!

  • I've contemplated this in the past. Firstly, it's in an ISA in my mum's name, so it's earning a fair whack of interest, think it's around £2700 now.

I'd have to get the money from my parents. Thing is, they know me. :) And I know me. I may seem all enthusiastic now but I'm good at making plans and not sticking to them. Hence my reasons for the blog and these posting to stay on the straight and narrow.

I'd rather pay off my own debt, otherwise I will have the psychological feeling of - I'm debt free, when I'm not. I've been in debt before and got out (only for around £2K) just to get straight back in again. but I'm older and hopefully smarter tha that now. Still, I don't know. So I'd rather not risk it.

Plus, I know my parents. They know I'm in debt and have offered to help, but I'd rather they didn't know. They do tend to use knowledge of my debts as emotional blackmail to "tell" me what I should be doing, etc. it's all ended fairly badly before with both of us swearing they'd never lend me money again. It's just not healthy for us...
