Hello. I am new to the boards, have lurked a bit (finally found the courage to post). I have just started a DMP, first payment sent and received. Unfortunately I only got the details for my new bank account today so I was a bit slow in transferring everything from old bank account. My original bank account has been closed and passed on to recovery agents. I rang child benefit and they said my payment for this month has already been sent out for Monday. Does anyone have any idea of whether or not I can get this money? Only realised my bank account was closed when I tried to get my tax credits out this morning and cash machine wouldn't let me. I did post this on another thread and was told that it is possible that the bank can't legally take benefits. Does anyone know if this is true and what steps if any I can take next. Thank you

Hi there, and welcome to the boards!
I don't know the answer to your questions I'm afraid, but I am bumping this one up so that hopefully someone else "in the know" will answer xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi there,
If your account has been closed, the bank should have put any attempted payments into one of their holding accounts. If you pop in or ring them to explain the situation they should be able to tranfer the amount from their holding accounts into your new bank.
Hope this helps,
