a couple of questions

Hello

Right first thing, I can spend a fortune on cleaning products, is there anything I could make up myself and put in a spray bottle for cleaning kitchen worktops, cleaning shower and bath and also cleaning the windows.

Second thing i'm going to attempt cooking a whole chicken in the slow cooker. Do I need to put water in the bottom if so how much. I'm hoping to get a few meals out of this chicken. A roast, maybe chicken curry or a soup. Can anyone think of anything else I could make.

thank you kindly
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

I'm just using white vinegar (diluted a bit, so my house doesn't smell as much like a chip shop) to clean most things right now.

As regards the chicken, I don't put any water in - there is enough water in most chickens that it comes about half way up the SC by the end!

I do a roast and save the stock. If you save all the liquid that comes out of the chicken and pop it in the fridge, the fat will separate out into the top layer and can be scraped away and then there will be a lovely layer of stock underneath. That (with some carrot, pearl barley/rice, and a little chicken) makes your soup. Then I do curry/stir fry/fajitas with the rest. A chicken will always do 2 main meals for 3, plus soup, and if it's a slightly bigger one I can get as much as 3 main meals for 3, plus soup if I pad with veggies a bit.

    HTH.

I buy the Cif stuff which needs diluting, I put a small amount in a spray bottle and top up with water, has the same effect as normal cleaners and whilst its probably £1 ish for a big bottle its cheaper than the shop bought ones which you can simply spray :) probably not mse but I like to make sure everything is clean with having 2 kids, the littleist one is still crawling mostly but took her first steps sunday :D
