Help needed regarding coupons/asda

Hi,I know i have read that you can use coupons at asda even if not buying the actual product.
I have never done this but i am eager to start ! Anyway picked up a somerfield magazine today with £11 of coupons in it.
However,they are specifically for somerfield (I.E. they have somerfield in big letters on the coupons),they are however for non-somerfield brands like flash.
Has anyone used these/know if you can still use these at asda ???
Any help would be greatly apprechiated,many thanks.

Yes they work aslong as the product and the doscount is identified on the coupons

our asdas will only take other supermarkets coupons if you buy the product. Not sure if this is the same nationwide?

ditto ours the same will accept non specified coupons regardless but named supermarket ones have to be for item. it is strange the way policy varies from store to store though, I know a few people on here state there asda will only accept vouchers up to 10% of total value my local asda accept up to a third ;D still love the look on the face of the person behind me when I hand over a wad of coupons and the operator scans them 8) actually had a few people come after me to ask 'how I do it! :-/ Did notice a full page spread in a local paper a few days ago advertising a new store stating they accept competitors coupons. also the tons of leaflets usually lying ignored all around the local kwiksave had vanished! :-/ maybe due to the asda price match promise? :-/
