Moorcroft Debt Collection

Hi there

I had an Egg Loan and due to bad planning, personal issues and other things that are all my own doing it has now been passed onto Moorcroft Debt Collectoin Agency.

I have just had one phone call with them and so far they seem pleasant.

Has anyone have any dealings with them? And also, how badly does it affect my already dire credit rating?

Thanks,
Brisbane

Hiya moocroft were prepaired to reduce my debt from £550 to £237 for an immediate cash payment. Unfortunatley i have not got the cash to do that, but it was a good offer. Onwards and Downwards

Moorcroft are by far the best DCA i have dealt with. i had a debt of £4800ish go to them from an Egg Loan and they accepted only £5 a month for it. they do occationally increase the payments without consulting you, but it's purely just them trying to get the money back quicker in the hope you dont mind it, but if its a problem for you, you call them up and change it back. the increases for me were not that big, it went from £5 to £10 a month, and now i'm paying £15 a month

and you can pay them online which makes it so much easier.

the only downside is if you want to setup a direct debit or standing order, you need to pay a certain amount per month and i can't remember what that was but it is more than i can afford to pay.

Moorcroft were much easier to deal with than Egg, however they will try and increase your payments every 6 months. Stick to your guns and only pay what you can afford.

They will also offer reduced settlements, if they do and you accept make sure its full and final and not partial and in writing before you accept.

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

I'm quite surprised to see people speak highly of Moorcroft, for me they were the biggest bar stewards I'd ever had the misfortune to deal with. They are chancers pure and simple, they fly so close to the law that in most instances I'm sure they cross the line.
I've had all sorts of arguments over the phone with them and I've never tried to con them in any way, I've always been on time and in full with payments but it seemed that they just wanted to try and make my life hell for the fun of it. Even after BR they tried it on so I got my OR to sort them out and he kicked !!!!
They once threatened a doorstep collecter and so I rang them up and told them to send their best man as anyone knocking on my front door from Moorcroft would have a very big and very angry person to deal with!!!

I've not heard anything flattering about Moorcroft either, but haven't had any dealings with them.

How long ago did you take out the loan?
Have you tried asking for the CCA?

This is why we do not recommend that you set up DDs with Dcas, only standing orders, as you are in control. Some folk would end up with£50 worht of bank charges if a dc did this unexpectedly.

I am sure the OFT would love to know that. DCas are required to accept reasonable offers, not put obstacles in the way of people trying to pay their debts off.
