New Out of Hours Business Idea

Hi MSE'rs,

For the last week and a bit I've read every single post on the up your income board and really appreciate all the ideas, suggestions and motivation I have found on here. I'll not go into my history right now (ill save that for a big post later) but needless to say my family and I are struggling financially and I need to 'up my income'.

I have searched hard but on here there is nothing that really covers what I've been thinking so I turn to you, more for encouragement than advice. Here's my idea.

I have spent the last 8 years supporting small businesses with their sage software (Accounts and Payroll primarily but also some of the lesser known products) and although I have no actual aat or accounts qualification I know the programs and more importantly the processes inside out.

My current hours with my employer are 9 to 5 as that is what they see as core business hours however that means no overtime and as I need to pay of the debt agencies asap I was hoping to offer my support services directly to businesses out of hours in addition to my existing job.
I understand the self employed tax implications I think, and if I do go for it, it is certainly the first thing I will look into but as an idea do you think it could work?

If so, how would you suggest I either look for business or advertise my services?

As you can tell it's just an idea seedling at the moment so any advice is good advice.

Thanks.

I think it's a good idea. However I think you need to research if companies work a lot out of hours and will they pay for it if so? Have you spoken to your local businesslink? They may be able to help you with research.
