Eating OS in Disney?

This post is similar to SnowyOwls but we are going to Disney and staying in the Holiday Inn. We will be there for 4 nights and 5 days. Hubby & I both have special diets and terefore we need to eat potatoes rather than chips all the time. Last time we went, earlier this year, dinner for 2 was 30 Euros each plus. It wouldn't make good moneysaving if we had dinner there 5 days, it would cost 300 Euros plus. Never mind snacks or lunch. Breakfast is included in our stay.

I should point out that I am a diabetic and therefore these snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner are necessity to maintain my blood sugar levels. Has anyone any suggestions?

    Hi

I stayed in the Holiday Inn there a couple of years ago and was shocked to find out how much money it was going to cost to feed a family of four each day. All I can say is that if you are going by car, there is a town about 3-4 miles away with a decent supermarket. (Can't remember the name, I just headed off one day and found it) Buy your own stuff to make sarnies, buy snacks, fruit and your own drinks. I know this is not much help for the main meal, but maybe if you can make your smaller meals cheaply, you can afford to buy the hotel meal at least once or twice. We weren't getting brekkie in our price so it was economical for us to buy food in as I wasn't paying the extortionate hotel prices for breakfast too.

If you haven't got a car available, maybe there is a bus service - the locals have to get to work somehow. In fact, there is a small 'village' about 1 mile from the hotel, with a shop but it was closed when we went there.

BTW - I proudly marched through the hotel lobby with 4 carrier bags stuffed full of food - probably broke all the hotel rules :D I did get funny looks mind )

I know it's not much use now. But when we go with a car to France we normally use the Premiere Classe hotels, and pick ones sharing a site with the Campanile Hotel (in the same chain) and their restaurant. They are basic, but clean.

They do very cheap breakfast (o.k. it's only juice/coffee/baguette/cornflakes). But the Campanile restaurants do very cheap 2 or 3 course fixed price menus, and reasonably priced wine. We use them a lot for stopping off en route, so we don't want to go out hunting for food when tired, and just want a quick breakfast before setting off the next day.

There are ones near Eurodisney & Park Asterix.

Sorry I'm not much use:o We stayed at Disney in the New York and you you just cannot get decent food either in the hotel (and it was one of the posher ones) or on th e park. Whatever restaurant you go in the food is the same they just give it different names. We ate chips for 4 days solid:eek: Kidz loved it tho!

  • Its years since we were there but we loved the Diner just outside the park for the atmosphere and the burgers were pretty good too icon12.gif

Just read that it is Annette's Diner icon7.gif
  • Ok what about buying your own snacks from the Big Huge supermarket Carrefour on the RER A line just before the Disney stop?

We are flying over and then getting the red Disney bus from the airport to the hotel. We will not be hiring a car as we will be taking the pink Disney bus in and out of the parks. We will return to the airport on the red Disney bus.Hope this makes sense. Any more suggestions? Looks like we will be eating chips for 5 days!

We stayed at the Hotel New York. Very nice hotel but the food was pricey and if you didn't want chips you were done for. I was preggy when we went and I couldn't stomach all the greasy food. Oh and when my kids ordered sausages (I know - not the most healthy of options) they got frankfurters/hot dogs instead, which they hate! I ended up living off sarnies that I made from the breakfast spread each morning. You can get fed up of ham and cheese rolls!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

I think people are getting mixed up with the US Disneys and Euro Disney :D

My friend went there and said that all there was to offer to eat in the complex was takeaway food but she went out one of the days and managed to buy a healthier meal. But she went there for a week and had more time. She did take a smallish cool box with her though so maybe you could think of some things you could put in one of those

We stayed at NBC, and found the food excellent, alot of alternatives to chips! Also King Ludwigs castle in the village was excellent. We had baked potato with Steak, and it was gorgeous!!
