Annoyed at Argos's freeview box!!!

  Three months ago, I bought a freeview box from Argos which was £16.99 which was branded as Digiloc. I didn't use it as much because we were not connected to an external aerial, I tried using it on a portable aerial and did not get much signal, I assumed that it was due to the aerial.

When we connected to the normal aerial the signal on the box was still bad, the picture froze the box froze the picture went and I was so annoyed!!!  I got the box for my bedroom TV and it does not work. I lost the receipt and don't know what to do!!!

Have you tried re installing the chanels? I found this helped when we moved as the signal was poor.

Otherwise get the manufacturers contact details from the instructions and contact them, they should be able to help.

Several times, but it still didn't work.

Did you pay by cheque or card? If so a statement will act as proof of purchase. Other than that, you could try just taking it back to the store and explaining - it could be a new product that they have not had in long enough for the guarantee to expire or they might just decide to believe you! Other than that, did you register the guarantee with them?

Don't give up - you will find a solution, certainly would not just accept it's gone!

  • Take it round to a mate's house who already has a box working with his aerial, and try it there - if it works ok you'll know it's the aerial/reception at your place that's the problem, not the box itself. You may need a better aerial (you can get some real beasts!), or a Freeview signal booster MIGHT help (I've had mixed results with these).

It's worth knowing that when the digital rollout actually happens full-bore (next September I think?), the digital signal from the transmitters is set to increase significantly - many people with problems now will see much better results than at present.

If the picture is still awful and it doesn't find the full compliment of channels, then it sounds like the box is duff in some way. I'd be tempted to take it back saying your were given it as a present/won it in a raffle and you've only just tried it. Sometimes they are ok about proof of purchase if you just want to swap it for the same or similar (or perhaps I've just been lucky!).

    Good luck!

    :)

I bought 3 of those boxes, had to take 1 back as faulty from the outset. The others work ok for the kids bedrooms, but the sound and pictures go out of synch, and I just cant watch it like that.
