Please can someone give me some urgent advice!!!
I had an arrangement with Chandlers to pay off a £800 council tax bill. they were very forcefull and origianlly I had a letter to say pay up in full or else your house will be emptied of all that you own. I managed to setup an arrangement with them of £100.00 a month until cleared. The payment was due on the 1st of every month and this month and was 7 working days late but i did pay it, they have had the installment.
this morning, thank god i was not there, i had a letter delivered at 6AM. As the payment was 7 days late they now want me to clear the outstanding debt in full which is £129.46, not only that they demand that i also pay the levy fee of £28.00 and the 'walking possession fee' of £151.50, making a total payable of £308.96. All becuase the payment was 7 days late. I contacted the rep on the number provided on the order and begged him to accept the final payment without the additional charges as i just dont have it and he not very nicely said no way , pay up or else they will be back at 6am tomorrow with vans to clear the house of all that i own (I have a 1 bed starter home and no car). I tried to explain that i had been suffering with drpressiuon and on anti depressents mainly becuase of the financial situation i was in and asked him to please be understanding and again he refused. I am a 36 year old female i live on my own and the thought of load of 'heavies' coming round tomorrow morning at 6am with vans is quite frankly terrifieing me. Please can someone help and advise me the best way forward!

As hallowitch says, did they levy? What did the letter say?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
levy fee of £28.00 and the 'walking possession fee' of £151.50,
if your bailiff has never been in your home to levy goods he has NO legal right to entry to your home unless you let him in he will threaten you with forced entry using a locksmith he will threaten you with police (non of it true)
the above fees cant be charged without a levy on your goods and a walking possession fee is £12 and this can only be charged if the walking possession agreement is signed
I suggest you phone the council ask them the amount of the liability order add £42.50 legitimate bailiffs fees
work out how much you have already paid the total reaming is all you owe
send an e-mail to the bailiffs ask for a breakdown of your account to include fees charged and payments made
make a complaint to the revenues department of your council regarding the bailiffs unlawful fees
if the council tell you its down to the bailiff firm this is not true the council are fully reasonable for all bailiffs actions including there fees
if you do get this reply from the council then a formal complaint to the chief executive of the council is your next move (you will find out who he is on the council web site)
do not miss your mortgage to pay unlawful bailiff feesI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites
