I'm looking for a decent snapper for the holidays.... Something small that does decent pictures and video.
I've found the following:
Kodak Z1275 (refurbished) 12mp
Pentax Optio M40 (Refurbished) 8mp
Pentax Optio E50 8mp
All similar priced.... anyone got any recommendations?

Panasonic TZ3, not the smallest or lightest but has a x10 optical zoom and a Leica lens, also does decent video.

SWMBO uses a Pentax optio, I have to say the low light performance of it leaves a lot to be desired. Image quality is ok when subject is well lit, but as the light drops so does image quality!!!
Can you go and try a few in the shop? ask them to show you images taken with each on a pc if they can, then it is easier to compare. I get very picky but then I use Nikon DSLR's so really notice when image quality starts to drop!!!0 -
I often look at threads like this and understand the OP's position but then think that modern Digi cameras are so good anyway that you can't really go wrong. It is only if you have a keen interest in photography that you will want specific features or specifications.
I agree with what Wallbash says "All of the well known makes fit those requiements"
I would always recommend a camera with a built in rechargeable battery (rather than standard AAs) as the generally last longer and also allow for a slimmer camera design. I know some people will disagree with this and say that what if your battery dies, you can always buy AAs, but that has never happened to me and you can easily buy a spare (from ebay) quite cheaply......0 -
With a budget of £100 you might struggle ( someone will tell you if possible) to buy the TZ3 suggested by Penrhyn.
BUT :j I bought the slightly lower spec TZ2 back in April.
You could buy that , i'm very happy with it .0 -
You can't go wrong with Fuji in my opinion. Try the Fuji Z10fd, or just look at the Z range of cameras. I have 2 Fuji cameras fantastic results every time, they are also great in low light if you need that sort of thing.

Go into a camera shop and try all of them; and others and see which one yu like. you don't have to buy it there.
Pentax Optios - you'll be buying more in batteries than the cost of the camera - in my opinion - they drink energy.
Look out for a Fujifilm S5700 - i bought one for relatives from tesco online for £99 in May. they are well pleased with it.0 -
Thanks everyone some good advice here.0

I second that, I have a FujiFilm F30 and it is brilliant and was quite cheap. It is small but takes great quality pics and is particularly useful in low light situations. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30
