Anybody want a challenge? Finding a cheap washing machine

Options
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place - please feel free to move it.

Our washing machine has died. For now, we are looking for the very cheapest possible including delivery. Does anybody know where the best place to go is online please? I have Quidco and Free Fiver accounts so it would be good if I could use them too.

The cheapest I have found is with EmpireDirect.co.uk, £139.99 + £15 delivery. Its a Haier HMS1000TVE. Money is tight at the moment and we really do need the cheapest possible, though I know you often get what you pay for!

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Have you thought about Freecycle. If you haven't heard of it, it's a community website where people offer goods they want to get rid of or ask for goods they need. All free. Doesn't cost anything to register or post a message on there. You might be able to get something for the price of petrol to pick it up!
If you don't fancy that, do a bit of research on the old net and then walk into a shop and haggle. A lot of retailers are also feeling the crunch and most are willing to give a discount if you are brave enough to ask for one. Just be polite but firm don't accept any of their sob stories. It's great fun.

  • I bought my last washing machine of Comet's auction site. It is where they sell off their returned and damaged machines. Some may only have a superficial scratch down one side where no one will see it - thats what mine had but I saved about £120.

Not very good at pasting links, but the site is www.clearance-comet.co.uk.

    Hope this helps.

One that site is a washing machine bidding at £70.00 with next bid at £80.00.

Thank you very much for your replies, I am in the process of checking out both freecycle and the comet clearance.

    Thanks again

Does it have to be new? Bought my previous washing machine in a second hand shop, cost me £30, lasted 4 years.
