Tesco 'celebration' cakes

Whilst browsing Cheap wedding success, I came accross this article which basically states that you can pick up a 3 tier cake for under £40!
I've had a looksie on the Tesco website and found THIS which IMO aint bad!
You could decorate it yourself, and they even do a medium sized maderia one, I've costed it and it would come to £26.81 for 2 fruit and one maderia!
Anyone else tried any of these cakes?
I looked in Marks and sparks and they have cakes that look exactly the same but they combined cost £60, i'm wondering if the tase would actually be that different.

Before my friend offered to make ours I looked at Tesco cakes.

The only thing I noticed is that they don't always have all the sizes in store (where I looked anyway) and sometimes they aren't straight on the boards and the edging can be a bit damaged. Not sure if you can order them either.

Have had loads of birthday cakes from there and they are always lovely.

You can order M&S ones though.

have tp agree with paddingtondoo
bought on for christenning cake and the cake wasn't straight one side was about 2cm lower than other.

I bought a tesco finest christmas cake for a dedication the year before last and had it decorated by a family member, it was a lot plainer than the celebration cakes, didn't have the swirls around the top and I think because it was a finest one they had made sure it was central on the board. They also had lots of about 4 different sizes and our Tesco is pretty small.... Tasted fantastic too!

Only problem is they don't have them in until the christmas stock comes in....

I saw this on that site a while ago and decided to taste test the tesco cake.I looked at tesco online and my 3 nearest stores too but cannot get the smallest size fruit cake anywhere.I had the idea of using the celebration sponge cake as the middle tier and fruit for the others but I really want to taste the fruit one first.Has anyone seen the small one?

I think they had it in my local store the last time I looked but that was a couple of months ago - unfortunately I'm nowhere near you
