Hi
I am a Newbie to MSE, although I have been a fan of the site for a few months. I am now debt free having declared bankruptcy in 2007. I had always been so careful and could have told you my bank balance to the penny!! Then I had a baby, it was wonderful, but suddenly another life to consider and plan for. :EasterBun I wanted to keep my job, but nursery fees were so high. I thought that I could cover the costs, even if I had to use my credit cards, when she was at school everything would be okay!!!! But it wasnt!!
By that time, I was too deep in, and unable to meet my commitments despite working full time! Bankruptcy became my only option.
With little equity in my home, everything would have been okay, until my OH had to quit his job due to CRPDS Type II. (Chronic Regional Pain Dystophy) in 2008. Now he only receives incapacity benefit!! and disability living allowance lower level care allowance. He also had to declare Bankruptcy in Dec 2008.
I live each day awaiting a letter about our home, I dont know where we will go, There is very little equity in our home but I fear that they will ask for our home to be sold! even though it will raise only a few thousand pounds!! I fear how two bankrupts will rent a home when one is no longer working!!!! What sort of deposit will they ask for?
Sorry for my first post to sound so depressing, things are better for us now we are debt free, but we worry so much about our future. I have managed to secure a bank account, but otherwise feel like a second class citizen!!
I just want to secure a home and basic future for my family, I realize holidays and home improvements will never happen, but how can I secure a future, if I earn more they will take it, so I cannot put money aside to buy the beneficial interest! in our home!!! we are stuffed from every angle.
Your suggestions would be welcome!!!:mad:365 AF Day Challenge 32/365:T:j

Hi IM.
Welcome along. I can understand your worries about your house. Have you called your mortgage provider about reduction in monthly payments.
Most Banks etc are now looking to get a repayment of any type just to save them the repo route. Call them & see if they are willing to help on this matter...at least until this recession starts to receed.
If not please start your own thread ( press `NEW THREAD` ) for a greater response.
Hope that helps & thankyou for having the guts to post your situation. You are not alone.

Been 'pulled' so I'll never know what I might have missed. :rotfl:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
