I suppose having to rehome the dogs is BR related in a round about way. Because we were having so many financial problems my step dad made us an offer of taking over his business when he retires next May so we are moving abroad and couldn't take the dogs with us. We are happy about going, having to rehome the dogs is the worst part of it though!

Our mortgage has just gone up over £500 per month so we can't afford our house anymore so if we stayed here we would have to move into rented accommodation and I doubt I'd be able to find something dog friendly anyway so they would have had to go at some point.

    Hi Fyp,

It's over two years now since we took our little pooch back up to Scotland, and there are still moments when we get home from work and expect him to be stood there, or more realistically, doing cartwheels around our legs. Very emotional, and I don't think it ever quite leaves you.

There are times when you've just got to do these painful things; what a sh1tty world.

I really feel for you so I hope they have a lovely new home with lots of fuss & attention. As I type this my youngest has jumped the `dog gate` & sneaking in to see what I`m doing!! I am sure they `know` what is happening as I am looking at a new place where I can only take one!!!! hope the LL won`t notice if I take 2 of them!!

We lived in a rented property with our two border collies, a chinchilla and fish tank so I would say it is possible to find a good landlord who doesn't mind dogs - saying that, we only had one dog when we moved in and got the second dog while we were there! ;) So you may find somewhere where you can have both dogs SSA, I hope so anyway.

So sorry to hear FYP & Richard S about your situation.

I feel a bit better now, got it out of my system with a rant and a cry! :rotfl:

I know what you mean about the cartwheels Rich! Both my dogs always gave me such a warm greeting but the male dog would follow me and nudge me until I acknowledged him - yes, I'm sure I'll miss that for a long time to come. I'll be blubbering tomorrow when I hoover and sweep up the dog hair that is still on the floor - I wonder how long it'll take to get rid of all the dog hair?
