I'm really struggling with this one.
We formatted and reinstalled a laptop last week and put it onto a domain today. However once we've come to use the laptop most of the menu's are not appearing properly. As the picture below all you get is an outline of the menu.

This is affecting the start menu and MS Office products, but explorer seems unaffected. In Office products you can use the menu options from the keyboard e.g. Alt, F, S saves the document, but you cannot see the menu whilst doing this.
I've tried changing the resolution, colours, etc but it's a standard build so I can't see what's worng with it.
Any ideas?

Ignore this now I've solved the problem. For anyone experiencing a similar issue here's what worked for me:
I logged onto the laptop as an administrator to make the user a member of the admin group and noticed that the menu's worked fine for the administrator. So I made the user a member of the local admin group.
Logged back in as the user and the menu's worked.0
