Paragon - Very stuck with debt

Options
Hi,

Can I please get some advise regarding Paragon Personal Finance.

My wife & I took out a loan with Paragon in Oct 97. The loan was for £7,000 payable over 10 years at £164.32 a month (£25.06 in PPI). I had some difficulties making the payments at the begining of the repayment but then sorted things out and made the payments regularly for what is now over 10 years. The problem is that if I were to settle the loan I'd be expected to pay appx £9,500.

I enquired into this and was told that it was because the account was in arrears, although way back at the begining when I missed some payments and then made extra contributions so as to bring the repayments back up to the correct level. I remember being told that I was "back on track" with the repayment schedule.

I've asked for the CCA and recievied this

The CCA I had with Paragon looked nothing like that one and had a different date on it (I believe it was dated 2 weeks after the one above) but has only been signed by my ex-wife and I (on the CCA above they didn't spell my correctly).

This is a joint and several liability loan and since appx Jan 99 I've made all the payments. Should my ex-wife be making any of the payments? If I stop making payments would Paragon chase her for the monies? what else can I do?

Any advice that can be given would be great, I`m so stuck.

  • Hi,

I forgot to mention also that the interest was frozen when I spoke to Paragon a while ago and I believe that this has not happened and that the interest has continued to be added.

    Thanks
