There are no asdas in central London. The nearest is Clapham Junction, near the train station.
As for Tesco, there is one near Goode Street tube but it is a Tesco Metro. There is another Tesco Metro near Picadilly Circus either on Haymarket or the street that runs parallell to it (the one the buses come up or down).
I don't know of any pound shops in central London. There is a poundland in Wandsworth Southside shopping centre but no tube station anywhere near.0 -
There is a very big Asda on the Old Kent Road, but no tube nearby (you'd need to go to Elephant & Castle then get the bus). Another (slightly smaller) one is near Crossharbour DLR station, hardly central though.
Other than the small Tesco Express and Metro stores, the most central "proper" Tesco I know of near a tube station is in Rotherhithe, near Canada Water tube station on the Jubilee line.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

There is a big Tesco in Old Kent Road as well.
A 99p store in Camden High Street, walking distance from Mornington Crescent tube station.0 -

theres a 99p store in kingston, about 30minutes from waterloo by train0 -
There is a small Tesco in church street near edgware road tube, one stop from Baker street, I'm sure there are a couple of pound shops there too0

There's another "proper" Tesco (i.e. not an Express or a Metro, although it is not a massive store) on Kennington Lane, behind the Oval cricket ground. It's not much more than a 5 minute walk from Vauxhall tube station which is in Zone 1, so it beats the Clapham Junction, Rotherhithe and Old Kent Road branches (suggested by previous posters) in terms of centrality.
Edited to say: I thought of another one that's walking distance from a Zone 1 tube. There's quite a big Tesco on the junction of Warwick Road and the A4 - barely a 5 minute walk from Earl's Court tube (turn right out of the Warwick Road exit from the tube station).Operation Get in Shape
